In December 2011 a few RBH members created a group inside RBH that would explore active ways to put the principles of Humanism into action. By working together as a group of volunteers they hope to make a positive impact in the world for both people and
the environment.
The Community Outreach Group was founded as a vehicle for RBH, both as a group activity and as a way in which individuals might fulfill the following Humanist Affirmations:
* We are concerned with securing justice and fairness in society and with eliminating discrimination and intolerance.
* We believe in supporting the disadvantaged and the handicapped so that they will be able to help themselves.
* We want to protect and enhance the earth, to preserve it for future
generations, and to avoid inflicting needless suffering on other species.
There are currently over eight active projects being planned, ranging from donations of needed supplies to cleaning beaches to helping immigrants.
So far the volunteers are: Liz Arnone, Carol Auer, Pat Barr, Elaine Bunn, Joan Cavalluzzi, Frank DeFranzo, Karen Dempsey, Deborah Kurtz, Trudy Lagan, Irma Lester, Nick Molinari, and Linda Montgomery.
Please join them in any or all of the activities! Specific projects will be posted in the coming weeks as the group begins to target appropriate needs in the community.
