Darwin Day Celebration - February 8, 2009
The guest speaker for our Celebration of Darwin's 200th birthday was Dr. Alan Mann, Princeton University Professor and Humanist, presenting "The Scars of Human Evolution," revealing our less than perfect evolution from four to two legs.

Dr. Mann is a physical anthropologist whose interests include paleo-anthropology and human evolution. He teaches courses on human adaptation and evolution and a summer field course on modern human origins in France.

He jointly developed, with Janet Monge, an exhibit on the biological conse-quences of our evolution, which is presently open at the Univ. of PA Museum in Philadelphia ("Survivors: Body of Evidence").

Our event was a huge success, with ninety-two (92) attending, and was one of 543 such events in 39 countries.

Dr. Mann gave an illuminating lecture with supporting graphics and photos. Many of his points were supported by his wry sense of humor...to the delight of the audience.

Audience members stayed to chat with Dr. Mann following the official question & answer period.

His lecture inspired many follow-on questions, which he was more than happy to entertain.
